My co-worker recommend I give this leadership self-help book a try. He doesn’t really like it, (but likes “what the book is conveying”) but he still made the recommendation because it was recommended to him by his boss, someone we both respect.
This book is a FABLE!!! Is that not an interesting concept for a self help book?!? The false short story of Kathryn Petersen explains how she works through each stage of the Five Dysfunctions model in order to built a successful executive team.
The Five Dysfunctions model in pyramid form:
- Lack of trust
- Fear of conflict
- Lack of commitment
- Avoidance of accountability
- Inattention to results
In reading this book, I learned that my leadership style is similar to Carlos and that I need to work on my “interpersonal discomfort” if I want to be a successful team member.
I recommend this book because the language is not difficult to follow and I did gain some insight on myself. Surprisingly, I took away a new understanding on why some good leaders may not work for a particular team.
