Tan Tan’s House Special Rice Cake has been my all-time favorite dish since middle school. I have fond memories around this dish. In high school when my cousin just got her driver’s license she would drive us across town (est driving time of 45 mins) just so I can have this dish. Gosh, I heart her. One time in college after driving 45 minutes, just for this dish, we were asked to take this dish to-go since it was the ONLY thing my now-husband and I ordered. But if you know me at all, I tend to forgive and forget (especially for the sake of this dish). This dish was also the first dish my husband and I ate right after we got engaged. I’ve watched this dish go from $3.75 to now $6.25! Tan Tan is a pretty popular restaurant in the Asian community. The service is fast – seating and food. If you’re looking for good customer service, I wouldn’t recommend this place. For example, the gentleman that was sitting at the table in front of me asked to see the bottle of the House wine and for some ironic reason he couldn’t! The waiter kept repeating to him that he couldn’t select the House wine. That exchange between the waiter and the gentleman got pretty loud. (My husband suspected that the House wine was a boxed wine.)
I am sorry for the horrible pictures. Right before I started to take pictures I dropped my phone (just my luck lately) and immediately became useless. Pictures were taken with my husband’s phone.
